Learning Transcendental Meditation

The first step is to come to a free introductory talk about Transcendental Meditation. This takes about an hour, and gives you a full overview of the technique and how it is learned. You can also discuss privately with the teacher any personal considerations. There is no commitment to learn.

The next step

The course consists of four 90-minute sessions on consecutive days followed by regular one-to-one sessions with the teacher, as well as periodic seminars over the first six months to ensure you are meditating correctly and enjoying the benefits. Even after the first instruction you will be able to meditate on your own at home.

After the course

Transcendental Meditation will just be an enjoyable part of your daily routine. However, there is a range of meditators' meetings, weekend courses and advanced courses for those who wish to participate.

Courses are taught by qualified teachers who have spent at least six months on full-time training programmes designed and supervised by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of Transcendental Meditation

Course Fees

To make learning TM open to as many people as possible while covering our costs, the fee for learning TM is income-related. You are given a six-month support programme to help you get the most out of your meditation.

Gary Kaplan, MD

Gary P Kaplan, associate professor of neurology at New York University School of Medicine

"If you have a technique that you practise 20 minutes twice a day, a technique that allows you to be dynamic in your activity and yet not to accumulate the stress that wreaks havoc on your health, then you have a key to better health."
